Richland County
Richland County, including the cities of Ashland and Mansfield, offers many historic attractions. Ashland is about 40 minutes away. Just take I-76 (US 224) west to I-71 and head south. Mansfield is another 15 minutes further south of the U.S. 250/Ashland exit. Continue south on I-71 to US 30. Follow the signs into Mansfield.

The Richland Carrousel Park is one of over 60 unique specialty shops and eateries located in and around the historic Carrousel District, located just three blocks from US 30, exit SR 113 (Main Street) south. Completed in 1991, this carrousel was the first new hand-carved carrousel to be built and operated in the U.S. since the early 1930s. Rides on the carrousel are offered for 75 cents each. The old Ohio State Reformatory is a castle like prison built in 1886 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Kingwood Center is one of our Tour Gardens! It is the 47-acre former estate of Charles K. King. The grounds are renowned for both their historic significance and the brilliant floral displays of the new gardens. The French Provincial mansion contains many rooms decorated with Mr. King’s original furnishings and one of Ohio’s outstanding horticultural libraries. Malabar Farm State Park is the 900-acre country estate of Pulitzer Prize winning author, farmer, and conservationist Louis Bromfield. Walk through the Ohio Songbird Aviary, petting barn, stroll through the butterfly, prairie & flower garden, ride a farm wagon and tour the home where Hollywood stars Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall were married. Oak Hill Cottage, considered by many as the most perfect Gothic house in the U.S., was also visited by Mansfield native and Pulitzer Prize winning author, Louis Bromfield. His memories of the home were the basis for “Shane’s Castle” in his 1924 novel The Green Bay Tree. Built in 1847, it features 7 gables, 5 double chimneys and 7 marble fireplaces. Stark County
Stark County is home to Canton, Ohio, which is about 30 minutes from the hotel. Just take I-76 East to I-77, and then go south to Canton.

Medina County
Medina County, a part of the Connecticut Western Reserve Area of Ohio, has a proud rich history documented by many community historical societies. Some are housed in historical buildings offering a glimpse into our past. Downtown Medina is easily reached from Wadsworth by taking US-224 west to the Rt. 3 exit. Take Rt. 3 north several miles until you reach the lovely town square.
America's Ice Cream & Dairy Museum is housed at historic Elm Farm in an original dairy building. The museum is a unique experience for the family; visitors are shown the history of ice cream in America through antiques, toys, dippers and collectibles. The dairy museum explains the history of the cow and milk process in America with cream separators, butter churns, dairy equipment, trucks, toys and milk bottles from northeast Ohio. The Little Wiz Fire and Historic Medina Museum is the home of the 1916 Hallock Chemical Fire Truck built in Medina. Akron Art Museum combines a late nineteenth-century brick and limestone building with a twenty-first century, soaring glass and steel structure by the celebrated Viennese architectural firm Coop Himmelb(l)au. The Museum displays exciting regional, national, and international works dating from 1850 to the present. You can catch a glimpse of important works from Andy Warhol, Frank Stella, and Helen Frankenthaler, as well as from photographers Margaret Bourke-White, Robert Frank and Harry Callahan. Akron Zoological Park houses more than 700 animals, including the endangered Humboldt penguins, snow leopards, Sumatran tigers, jaguars and Komodo dragons.
